The life

Charles Edward Pearce was an English writer and journalist who turned out historical romances, crime stories and popular histories of the London stage. He had a particular affection for the Georgian theatre, and several of his novels grew out of the research behind his studies of eighteenth-century actresses and the playhouses they filled. He died in 1924.
