The life

Charlotte Brontë was an English novelist, the eldest of the three sisters who survived childhood at Haworth parsonage, and the one who lived to see success. She published as Currer Bell, and Jane Eyre (1847) was an immediate sensation. She outlived Emily, Anne and their brother Branwell by six years, married her father's curate, and died during her first pregnancy at thirty-eight.
