Chester K. Steele

Chester K. Steele was never a person. It was a house name of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, the fiction factory behind Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, used on a short line of adult mysteries written to outline by anonymous hands. The Syndicate owned its pen names outright, so a book could keep appearing under Steele long after any one writer had moved on.
