Edgar Rice Burroughs

Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American writer who failed at ranching, gold dredging and selling pencil sharpeners before, at thirty-five, he decided he could do better than the magazine fiction he was reading. Tarzan of the Apes followed within two years and became a global industry. He founded the town of Tarzana, California, and at sixty-six became one of the oldest war correspondents of the Pacific campaign.
