Emily Brontë

Emily Brontë was an English novelist and poet, the fifth of six children raised in a parsonage on the Yorkshire moors that shaped everything she wrote. She published under the name Ellis Bell, and her only novel, Wuthering Heights (1847), baffled reviewers with its violence before being recognised as one of the great works of English fiction. She died at thirty, a year after its publication.
