The life

Ford Madox Ford was an English novelist, editor and grandson of the Pre-Raphaelite painter whose name he took. He collaborated with Conrad, founded The English Review and later the transatlantic review in Paris, and published Lawrence, Pound, Joyce and Hemingway before anyone else would. The Good Soldier (1915) and the Parade's End tetralogy are his own monuments; he wrote some eighty books in all.
