Frank L. Packard

Frank L. Packard was a Montreal railway engineer who turned his working years on the line into fiction, then created Jimmie Dale — a wealthy idler by day, the safe-cracking Gray Seal by night, a costumed double life that predates the pulp heroes it inspired. He wrote thirty novels from a house in Lachine and outsold most of his American rivals.
