George Grossmith and Weedon Grossmith

The Grossmith brothers were English performers who wrote The Diary of a Nobody together for Punch in 1888. George was the star comedian of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas, creating leading roles in nine of them; Weedon was a painter and actor who supplied the drawings. Their invented clerk, Charles Pooter, gave the language the word Pooterish and has never been out of print.
