Gertrude Page

Gertrude Page emigrated to Rhodesia with her husband and farmed there for twenty years, writing the novels that told Britain what the colony was like — and telling the colony some things it preferred not to hear about its own drinking and idleness. Paddy-the-Next-Best-Thing became a play and three films. She died in Rhodesia at fifty; her farm is now a suburb of Harare.
