The life
Gilbert Parker was a Canadian-born novelist who settled in England, sat in Parliament for eighteen years and was knighted. His fiction is set in the Canadian north, Quebec and the Channel Islands, and sold hugely on both sides of the Atlantic. During the Great War he ran British propaganda aimed at the still-neutral United States, a role that later shadowed his literary name.
