Henry Harland

Henry Harland was an American writer who reinvented himself in London as the literary editor of The Yellow Book, the quarterly that defined the 1890s with Beardsley's drawings. He had begun by publishing novels of immigrant New York under a Jewish pseudonym; he ended writing light, sunny romances set in Italy. Tuberculosis killed him at forty-four.
