Henry van Dyke

Henry van Dyke was an American clergyman, professor at Princeton and diplomat, who served as Woodrow Wilson's minister to the Netherlands during the Great War. He wrote the words to the hymn set to Beethoven's Ode to Joy, chaired the committee that revised the Presbyterian liturgy, and produced gentle allegorical tales — The Other Wise Man is still read aloud at Christmas.
