Howard Overing Sturgis

Howard Overing Sturgis was an American-born writer raised in England, a friend of Henry James and Edith Wharton, who kept an open house at Windsor where the literary world gathered. He wrote only three novels, all concerned with tenderness between men and the cruelty of English schooling, and gave up fiction entirely after James received his last book coolly.
