The life

James Joyce was an Irish novelist who left Dublin at twenty-two and wrote about almost nothing else for the rest of his life. Dubliners waited nine years for a publisher; Ulysses was serialised, prosecuted for obscenity in the United States, and banned there until 1933. Living in Trieste, Zurich and Paris, and increasingly blind, he changed what the novel could do.
