Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu

Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu was an Irish writer of ghost stories and mysteries, known in Dublin as the Invisible Prince for the seclusion of his later years. Writing largely at night after his wife's death, he produced Uncle Silas and Carmilla, a vampire tale that preceded Dracula by a quarter of a century and shaped much of the genre that followed.
