The life

Julian Hawthorne was an American writer and the son of Nathaniel, who grew up among Emerson, Thoreau and Melville and wrote about them all. He produced some fifty books of fiction and journalism, then in 1913 served a year in federal prison for using the mail to sell shares in Canadian silver mines that did not exist. He wrote a book about the prison too.
