Katharine Newlin Burt

Katharine Newlin Burt married a poet, moved to a Wyoming ranch, and wrote some forty novels of the mountain West — snowbound cabins, branding irons, women who choose badly and survive it — while raising two children at nine thousand feet. Her stories ran in the Ladies' Home Journal for decades and were filmed repeatedly. She lived to ninety-four.
