Mrs. J. M. Simpson was a nineteenth-century novelist writing for the popular market, whose fiction turns on a wronged heroine, a disputed inheritance and a long-deferred vindication. She published under her married name, as many women of her generation did, and left almost nothing else behind; her dates are not reliably known.
