The life

Rabindranath Tagore was a Bengali poet, novelist, composer and painter, and in 1913 the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. He founded an experimental school at Santiniketan, wrote the national anthems of both India and Bangladesh, and returned his knighthood in protest at the Amritsar massacre. He began painting in his sixties and produced some two thousand works.
