Saki

Saki was the pen name of Hector Hugh Munro, born in Burma and raised by two tyrannical aunts he spent his career avenging in print. His stories are brief, elegant and merciless, usually ending with a child or an animal getting the better of a complacent adult. He enlisted as an ordinary soldier at forty-three, refusing a commission, and was shot by a sniper in France in 1916.
