Steele Rudd

1868–1935 1 volume Comedy & Satire

The life

Steele Rudd was the pen name of Arthur Hoey Davis, a Queensland selector's son who turned the family's losing struggle with drought, scrub and bad soil into the comic sketches that gave Australia Dad and Dave. On Our Selection was a national institution — stage, radio and film for decades — but its author fought his publishers, lost his money, and died poor.
