The life

Thomas Dixon, Jr. was an American lawyer, Baptist minister and novelist whose The Clansman glorified the Ku Klux Klan and became D. W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation — a film that helped revive the Klan itself. His white-supremacist trilogy sold in the millions and his racism is not incidental to the work but its purpose. He lost his fortune in 1929 and died largely forgotten.
