Valentine Williams

Valentine Williams was a Reuters correspondent who was wounded on the Somme, went into military intelligence, and spent the rest of his life writing thrillers about the trade he had actually practised. The Man with the Clubfoot gave the genre one of its enduring villains. In the next war he worked for the propaganda service; in between he wrote screenplays in Hollywood.
