The life
Virginia Woolf was an English novelist and essayist at the centre of the Bloomsbury group, who with her husband Leonard ran the Hogarth Press by hand from their dining room and set the type for T. S. Eliot's poems. Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse pushed the novel inward, and A Room of One's Own made the case for women's independence. She drowned herself in the River Ouse in 1941.
