The life

Willis George Emerson was an American lawyer, mining promoter and novelist from Iowa who founded a town in Wyoming and floated companies across the West. He wrote fiction on the side, most memorably The Smoky God, presented as the true testimony of a Norwegian sailor who had sailed into a hollow earth — a book still cited by believers a century later.
