The life

C. J. Cutcliffe Hyne was an English writer and a Cambridge man who travelled the world before settling to fiction — he claimed to have visited every continent. The Lost Continent, his Atlantis novel, is his lasting book, but he made his living from Captain Kettle, the pugnacious little sea captain of some twenty volumes and one of the most popular characters of the age.
