Grace S. Richmond

Grace S. Richmond was a Congregational minister's daughter from upstate New York who wrote some thirty novels of domestic life and one enduring hero: Red Pepper Burns, the red-haired surgeon whose temper matches his hair. Her books ran in the Ladies' Home Journal and sold steadily for thirty years; she wrote them, she said, for people who wanted to be reminded that ordinary life is worth living.
