The life
Jack London was an American writer who was an oyster pirate, a hobo, a seal hunter and a Klondike prospector before he was twenty-four, and used all of it. He came back from the Yukon with scurvy and no gold, but with the material for The Call of the Wild. A committed socialist and the highest-paid author in America, he died at forty on his California ranch.
