The life
Ottilie A. Liljencrantz was a Chicago writer of Swedish descent who spent her short career on the Norse sagas, retelling the voyages of Leif Ericson as full-blooded historical romance for American readers who had never heard of Vinland. The Thrall of Leif the Lucky reached the screen in 1928 as The Viking, the first feature filmed in full Technicolor — eighteen years after its author died at thirty-four.
