The life

Zane Grey was an American dentist who abandoned the drill for the typewriter and invented the popular western with Riders of the Purple Sage (1912). More than a hundred films were made from his books, and he was among the highest-earning authors of the 1920s. An obsessive angler, he held ten deep-sea fishing world records and spent his royalties chasing marlin.
