The author is the American Winston Churchill, so regularly confused with the British statesman that the two men agreed the Englishman would sign himself Winston S. Churchill; in 1910 the American was much the more famous. Illustrated with 60 full-page plates — paintings by Reggianini, Millais and Seurat among them.
Honora Leffingwell is the original name of our heroine.
