The sequel to Looking Backward: Julian West, awake in the year 2000, is taken through the economics of the new order — how the credit card works, why there is no money, what happened to the lawyers, what the women wear and why. Bellamy’s first book sold hundreds of thousands and spawned more than 160 Nationalist Clubs across America; this one is the argument he thought the first had left unfinished, and he answers his critics by name. Illustrated with 60 full-page plates — paintings by Inness and Chełmoński among them.
Looking Backward was a small book, and I was not able to get into it all I wished to say on the subject.
