Mabel Winifred Knowles published as May Wynne and turned out some two hundred books in forty years — historical romance, adventure, school stories — writing to a standard that never dropped as far as her production rate suggests it should have. Illustrated with 60 full-page plates — paintings by Harris, Verdussen and II among them.
