Wodehouse wrote this in 1922 in the middle of his Broadway years, and Sally is his best straight heroine — the comedy is intact, but she earns her way out, and the man she should not marry is drawn with real cruelty. Illustrated with 60 full-page plates — paintings by Gore, Guillaume and Gildemeester among them.
