Two boys grow up in the same Ontario town, love the same girl, and meet again in a mining camp in the Rockies where one of them is the only doctor for a hundred miles. Charles Gordon wrote as Ralph Connor and knew the country first-hand: he was a Presbyterian missionary among exactly these camps, and his books sold in millions to readers who had never seen a mountain. Illustrated with 60 full-page plates — paintings by Brymner, Munch and Vasnetsov among them.
