Connor was Charles Gordon, a Presbyterian minister who worked these camps himself; his books sold in the millions and paid for missions, and the men in them talk exactly as he had heard them talk. Illustrated with 54 full-page plates — paintings by Sonntag, Sr. and Guetal among them.
